Vertical Capri

From Marina Grande, the main harbour of the island, up to Mount Solaro, a “vertical” pathway suspended between blue sky and sea.

Upon arrival we go towards Palazzo a Mare where once the Roman emperor Tyberius villa was located. Here we will start climbing the Phoenician steps, built by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C.

After more than 900 steps we will reach Anacapri, the village on the top of the island, crossing through the “Porta della Discordia”, the door which could not be crossed by  the citizens of Capri.

We will visit famous Villa San Michele, belonged to the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe, and proceed to Monte Barbarossa, reserve for migratory birds.

Before we climb Mount Solaro, we go to visit the hermitage of Saint Mary of Cetrella which offers wonderful views over the Faraglioni rocks.

Once we reach the top, we will enjoy a lemon slush and a 360° view of Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and the whole bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius.

The panoramic chairlift will take us back to the centre of Anacapri and then a minibus transfer to Capri.

Optional walking to return to the port of Capri through steep lanes between white houses and the blue of the sea.
