Legend and myths of Montepertuso

Departure from Santa Maria del Castello, an ancient village in the municipality of Vico Equense, once the only connection with Positano.

Following the CAI 300 path, known as the “High Route of the Lattari Mountains”, until we reach the disused Forestry Barracks.

We then begin the descent towards Montepertuso; our gaze will then open onto the southern side of the Sorrento peninsula, up to the island of Capri and the Faraglioni rocks. 

Once in the small square of Montepertuso, a hilly fraction of the gem of the coast, a short detour to reach the summit of Monte Gambera (522 meters), the mountain with the "hole" that gives the name to the fraction, and whose legend has accompanied its inhabitants for centuries.

We then continue towards the Pozzo Valley, crossing streams, Mediterranean scrub and wooded areas, accompanied by splendid views from above of Positano and the divine coast, until we reach an ancient mule track between Vico Equense and the coast.
